Mother’s Day Weekend Wrap-Up & A Workout For Wednesday

Man am I a lucky momma!!  I hope that all of the mommas out there enjoyed their special day.  I mean, it is just another day after all but because of the holiday I seem to do a little more reflecting on what being a mom really means and how it makes me feel.  Let’s just say it’s the hardest job that I have ever had but it is by far the most fulfilling and rewarding job that I have ever had as well.  Like anything you have to take the good with the bad and I try to remember that my own mindset plays a huge part in my daily outlook on things.  So with that said, here is how my weekend went.

We headed camping this weekend with a group of friends for Mother’s Day.  I mean, we didn’t go for Mother’s Day actually, it just happened to be Mother’s Day Weekend.  We spent the weekend hiking, chasing the kiddos (a few of our friends have kiddos around the same age as our little man), chatting around the fire, roasting s’mores, and enjoying the great outdoors.  It was chilly at night but that didn’t stop us from fully enjoying the weekend.  And let me tell you, it was the BEST Mother’s Day Gift waking up in between my two boys in our tent.  I have never seen our little man sleep so hard I don’t think.  The cold clearly didn’t bother him in the least and when we got home to unpack, he just wanted to get back outside.  Gotta love him 🙂 Here are some pictures from the fun.

When we got home on Sunday, my hubby got to work in the kitchen.  I knew he had something cooking up his sleeve but I just didn’t know what.  Well let me tell you-dinner was amazing.  He put together a multi-course meal with some twists on my favorite Spanish dishes to celebrate my special day!  He even made me non-alcoholic calimocho!!  If you have never had calimocho then you have not lived.  It is cola and red wine mixed together.  It sounds gross but it is pretty delicious!  I had my first calimocho when I was living in Spain in 2009 and I fell in love.  And I am NOT a soda pop drinker at all!  So if you love red wine and want to spritz it up for summer time, chill that red wine, add some ice cold cola (1 to 1 ratio) and enjoy!  Don’t worry, I won’t say I told you so 😉 SO this week I have been enjoying Spanish leftovers for my lunches.  What a beautiful gift…I just couldn’t have asked for more.  Sorry for the so-so photos…I was too excited to dig in to take the time to really make them A-mazing 😛

I also got to go for a solo run on Mother’s Day!! It gets hard pushing one in the stroller and carrying one on the inside so running solo was just amazing!  I’ve been making an extra effort to keep on my workouts, especially after being down with a cold last week for a few days.  I feel like pregnancy sucks so much energy out of you but somehow exercising puts that energy right back in.  So for hump day today I packed up the little man and went for a quick walk this am and then did this little Wednesday Workout.  Give it a try and let me know what you think!

Wednesday Workout

Warm-up & cool down with a 5 minute walk  on the treadmill or march in place.
Do each exercise for 1 minute with no rest in between sets (or as little as possible)
  1. Jump Squats
  2. Heel Slides (But if you are not preggers then do double leg lifts)
  3. Push-Ups
  4. Side Plank (30 seconds each side)
  5. Burpees
  6. Tricep Dips
Repeat 4x for a full workout session
